Two Mercer County PA annual traditions are back to tempt visitors’ taste buds. Philadelphia Candies Wonderful World of Chocolate Factory Tour and Daffin’s Candies Swizzle Stick Day both invite visitors to their candy factories to learn how their chocolates are made and to enjoy free samples.
The Philadelphia Candies Wonderful World of Chocolate Factory Tour is on Saturday, March 17 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Visitors can watch chocolates being made in a 35,000 sq. ft. chocolate factory. A treat from the Easter Bunny awaits, in-store tour day specials promise savings, and there’s a chance to win delicious Easter Chocolates. This is Philadelphia Candies’ 99th year of excellence in chocolate. Philadelphia Candies factory, along with the retail store, is located at 1546 E. State Street, Hermitage, PA 16148. Daffin’s Candies Swizzle Stick Day is a fun family activity that was started by Mr. Daffin. This event always takes place on the Sunday two weeks prior to Easter. For 2018, an open house will be held at the Farrell, PA candy factory on March 18 from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. The factory is located at 7 Spearman Avenue, Farrell, PA 16121. Visitors get to see how candy is created and receive a free sample of one of their delicious egg centers coated with creamy milk chocolate. A free shuttle service is available to take visitors from the Sharon City Plaza, (the Reyers Shoe Store Plaza in downtown Sharon) to the factory and to Daffin’s retail store from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more information: 1-877-323-3465.
