The Where the River Runs 10-Mile Trail Race is a new race in Mercer County that offers a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of nature while pushing yourself physically and mentally.
This race is held on the Shenango Trail, which once served as a towpath for the Erie Canal system in the 1800s. This is a point-to-point race that will begin near the Big Bend Trailhead and finish at the Kidds Mill Covered Bridge.
Runners who would like to participate will need to register by May 1st to receive a t-shirt. Registration for the race will close on May 15th. Registration is $40.
On the day of the race, runners will park and pick up their race day bib at Reynolds High School – 531 Reynolds Rd, Greenville, PA 16125. A shuttle will be waiting to take the runners to the starting line at Big Bend. When runners have finished the race, they will be shuttled back to their car from the Kidds Mill finish line. The race will begin at 9 am and will finish at 1 pm.
The event will also feature three aid stations along the course. The first station will be a water-only stop roughly 2.5 miles into the race. The second aid station will be at the halfway point, which is roughly 4.5 miles from the New Hamburg Road crossing. Aid station 2 requires runners to check in where they can get a drink of water, Gatorade, and various nutrition. At mile 7 will be the third aid station with water and various nutritional items.
