Acts Performing Arts Center Gears up for 2024

Mercer County is a great place to experience talented performances, and with 2024 approaching fast, it’s time to start planning which shows you’d like to attend!

The ACTS Performing Arts Center, a renowned theater company, has announced a great lineup of shows for 2024. With an eclectic mix of plays, music performances, and musicals, there is something for everyone to enjoy!

ABBAMANIA

Kicking off their 2024 season is the highly acclaimed tribute band ABBAMANIA. Relive the iconic songs and performances of the legendary Swedish pop group ABBA in a high-energy show that will have guests dancing in their seats. They will perform 22 songs with costume changes, choreography, comedy, and a great sound, taking you back to a time when ABBA was on stage.

Don’t miss this opportunity to sing along to hits such as “Dancing Queen” and “Mamma Mia” on January 19, 2024, at 7:30 pm.

Terry Dach 

Local musician Terry Dach will be recording live for his album release with Grant Street Exit and other special guests during this performance, which will feature:

  • Charlie Fischer (Keyboard)
  • Garrett Fry (Lead Guitar)

  • Dave Kana (Saxophone)

Gypsy: A Musical Fable

The hit musical Gypsy is loosely based on the 1957 memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, a Burlesque performer who traveled as a child performer with her sister in the vaudeville circuit throughout the 1920s. The musical focuses on Gypsy’s mother, Rose, who becomes “the ultimate show business mother.”

The musical will grace the stage this spring on:

  • March 15 – 7:30 pm
  • March 16 – 7:30 pm
  • March 17 – 2:30 pm
  • March 22 – 7:30 pm
  • March 23 – 7:30 pm
  • March 24 – 2:30 pm

The Tamburitzans

The world-famous Tamburitzans will also bring their musical talents to the stage this spring on April 13 at 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm. This ensemble has lasted for over eight decades, performing a wide variety of folk dance and music to represent a range of international cultures with elaborate costumes and talented musicians, dancers, and singers.

Tickets are $35 for adults and $20 for students, with individual tickets on sale on March 1.

Season ticket holders will have early access to tickets starting February 1.

The Man Who Came to Dinner

The Man Who Came to Dinner is a Kaufman and Hart 1939 Broadway hit that will surely please crowds and keep them laughing. This play is about the hilarious shenanigans that occur when a self-proclaimed critic falls and breaks his hip in the home of an Ohio family.

Performance dates are:

  • May 31 – 7:30 pm
  • June 1 – 7:30 pm
  • June 2 – 2:30 pm
  • June 7 – 7:30 pm
  • June 8 – 7:30 pm
  • June 9 – 2:30 pm

Tickets are:

  • $25 for adults

Honky Tonk Angels 

This Ted Swindley musical is about three women who meet on a bus traveling to Nashville with dreams of becoming country music stars. The musical features over 30 classic country songs, such as “Stand by Your Man” and “Coal Miner’s Daughter.”

Performance dates are:

  • June 14 – 7:30 pm
  • June 15 – 7:30 pm
  • June 16 – 2:30 pm

Tickets are:

  • $25 for adults
  • $20 for students
