As summer takes over Mercer County, PA, it’s time to find somewhere to cool off. What better way to do it than to explore some of our popular swimming locations? Here’s a list of places to make your summer cool and happening.
West Middlesex Community Pool
One such favorite is the Lackawannock – Shenango – West Middlesex Community Pool. This neighborhood hangout spot is open throughout the summer months, from June to August. With amenities like a picnic area, playground, and concession stand, it’s an ideal place for a relaxed day out. The pool, supervised by on-duty lifeguards, opens daily at noon and closes at 6 pm.
Non-swimmers and seniors can enter for just $5, while swimmers can get in at a general admission price of $10. Season passes are also available for frequent visitors.
Pymatuning State Park
Another coveted spot is Pymatuning State Park, home to three public beaches – Linesville, Main Beach, and Beach Two, which is accessible to campers staying at the Jamestown Campgrounds. Besides offering a refreshing escape in the 17,088-acre Pymatuning Reservoir, the largest lake in Pennsylvania, you can also indulge in camping, boating, fishing, hiking, and many other recreational activities.
Shenango River Lake
Then there’s the Shenango River Lake, part of a flood control system managed by the US Army Corp of Engineers. This location affords you an array of activities like watersports, hiking, camping, fishing, and more.
Buhl Park
Finally, explore Buhl Park, a sprawling 270-acre green expanse with stunning lake views, playgrounds, biking trails, gardens, wetlands, and sports facilities. The park also houses a free 9-hole golf course, a swimming pool, an off-leash dog park, and shelters.
