SLAINTE SHARON – ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

Join us for the 2nd annual “Slainte Sharon” St. Patrick’s Day Parade Saturday, March 16, 2024! Slainte (pronounced Slawn-cha) is a popular toast in Ireland and means ‘cheers’ and/or “to your health’ in Irish Gaelic. So help us cheer on Sharon as we invite you to the first of its kind parade in Mercer County! The parade is set to kick off at 6PM Thursday, March 16, on the campus of Penn State Shenango and will finish up at The Original Quaker Steak & Lube in Sharon.

New this year is The Lucky Leprechaun Dash – a fun run that will occur prior to the parade on the parade route. Participants are invited to dress up in green or gold or anything that evokes St. Patrick’s Day and/or leprechauns and do the half mile dash between Quaker Steak & Lube and Penn State Shenango, which are the end and start locations of the run. “We’ll be starting at 5:45 PM from Quaker Steak & Lube and running the parade route to the corner of Shenango Avenue and Silver Street by the Sharon Post Office and then back again to The Lube,” explained Amy Javens, owner of Cycle Life Studio whose company is coordinating the free run. “Participants can walk, run, dash or do an Irish jig to complete it.”

We also encourage pets (and their owners) to come in costume to participate and invite the public to bring items for animals in need including gently used bedding/towels, litter and pet food to the event to be donated to local animal organizations – who will be judging the parade!
