Wendell August Forge is known as America’s oldest and largest forge, specializing in hand-wrought ornamental metalware and elegant giftware. Founded in 1923 by coal miner Wendell McMinn August, the Forge will celebrate their 100th Anniversary in 2023!
Wendell McMinn August began the business after engaging a blacksmith working in his mine to hand-forge door latches for his home. Over the last 99 years, Wendell August Force has dedicated their time to crafting stunning, heirloom-quality gifts.
Each piece created by their expert craftsmen uses an eight-step process that has roots in ancient metalworking techniques. The artisans at Wendell August Forge hand-etch original designs into a die, include their own unique signature of the engraver within in the design, and hammer the mark of the craftsmen into the back of each piece to celebrate their craft.
