Summer is Here – Check Out These Places to Cool Off

With summer weather in full swing, it’s time to find a place to cool off this summer! Mercer County offers some great swimming options to keep you cool all summer long.

Lackawannock – Shenango – West Middlesex Community Pool

This Community Pool is a neighborhood pool that is open between June and August. Guests can enjoy a picnic area, playground, and concession stand. The pool also has on-duty lifeguards and is great for swimming and relaxing throughout the afternoon. Non-swimmers and seniors can get in for $5, and swimmers can get in for $10 general admission. Season passes are also available.

Pymatuning State Park

This park offers three public beaches, Linesville, Main Beach, and Beach Two. Campers can enjoy the beach within the Jamestown Campgrounds during their stay. These beaches are smoke-free, offering designated areas near the beaches for smokers.

In addition to cooling off in the 17,088-acre Pymatuning Reservoir, the largest lake in Pennsylvania, you can also enjoy camping, boating, fishing, hiking, and plenty of other recreational activities.

Shenango River Lake

This lake is part of the flood control system that is operated by the US Army Corp of Engineers for the Beaver and Upper Ohio Rovers. Visitors can enjoy a variety of watersports, hiking, camping, fishing, and more!

If you want to swim, you can visit the Chestnut Run Swim Beach, which is open year-round with restrooms available from May 21 through Sept 11. There is a picnic pavilion for guests to use and dumpsters in the parking lot to help keep the beach clean. Learn more here.

Buhl Park

This park spans 270 beautiful acres and offers stunning green space and lake views, as well as playgrounds, recreational areas, biking trails, gardens and wetlands, and sports facilities.
