Paddlefest Returns to the Shenango River this Fall on September 28th, 2024

Imagine a serene autumn day, the gentle rustle of leaves, and the calming flow of the Shenango River guiding you on a picturesque adventure. Welcome to the 2024 Fall Paddle Fest, a delightful escape into the heart of Mercer County, Pennsylvania, where the journey is as much about relaxation as it is about exploration.

Paddlefest Schedule and Route

You will set off from the launch point at Pymatuning State Park, located at 1 Water Trail Drive in Jamestown, and finish at Riverside Park, Greenville. The 9-mile float down the Shenango River promises around 3.5 hours of gentle paddling, catering to both novices and seasoned paddlers with its Class 1 water.

Keep in mind that this is not a race; it’s a chance to unwind and savor the scenic views.

Logistics: Drive your vehicle to the launch, check in at the Shenango River Watchers registration table, drop your watercraft and gear, then drive your vehicle to Riverside Park in Greenville to park. A shuttle service will whisk you back to the launch site, running every 30 minutes from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Remember, the last shuttle departs at 11:00 AM sharp—don’t miss it!

Once you’re back at the starting point, it’s time to embark on your river journey. As you paddle, you’ll pass by Mid-Float at Halfway Rd, where you can take a breather and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The river’s gentle current ensures a leisurely pace, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of the fall landscape.

The journey concludes at Riverside Park, where a warm welcome and a delicious lunch await. From 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM, indulge in local flavors and enjoy the festive atmosphere that caps off your scenic adventure.

A few practical notes: the cost to join this unforgettable float is $15 per paddler if you register online in advance or $20 for the day of registration. While the Shenango River Watchers do not rent kayaks or canoes, Carried Away Outfitters can assist those in need of equipment.

Don’t forget to mark September 12th on your calendar if you wish to snag one of the exclusive Paddle Fest t-shirts, available for purchase with your registration. Limited quantities will also be on sale at the event.

Facilities will be accessible for all participants, with restrooms available at the Pymatuning launch site, mid-float, and at the finish at Riverside Park.
