When the organizers of the Leesburg Presbyterian Church Touch a Truck Event gathered to plan the first event in 2014, they never dreamed that the exhibitors who came that year would be so excited about what they were participating in that they would agree, year after year, to return. The planners cancelled only one year, the Covid year, and when the event returned the following year, even more exhibitors jumped on the band wagon. Attendance grew year by year, and additional activities for the children were added.

This year’s event, slated for August 16 on the church grounds at 1831 Perry Highway, Volant, PA will continue to provide pleasure for the children and their families. Event hours are 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Once again, expect to see tractors and fire trucks, farm equipment and swat vehicles, police cars and emergency vehicles, clowns and face painters, vintage cars and converted cast-aways, the huge Piedmont crane and, if there is no emergency, the equally huge Medevac helicopter. This year the Humvees will share a spot with a veteran-owned trailer, painted to inspire us all with patriotism. Don’t miss seeing this one!

Let the kids explore – climb on, climb in, press in, pull out – as they learn the workings of the vehicles that are part of their everyday world. This event familiarizes kids with “all kinds of things that go” and helps to normalize a kid’s connection to what ‘could’ be a frightening experience.

The free handicap accessible event is an outreach of the Mission Shaped Church Committee of the Leesburg ECO Presbyterian Church located at the intersection of Rt. 19 and Rt. 208 West. Each family in attendance will have an opportunity to enter a drawing to win a Family Pass provided to us by Keystone Safari, Grove City.
