SHENANGO RIVER LAKE’S EAGLE FEST

Dust off your binoculars, charge your camera batteries and join us for great day learning about America’s most iconic bird.

Join the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Park Rangers, partnering with the Shenango River Watchers, in surveying the eagle activity at your lake, Shenango River Lake. Here at Shenango River Lake we have several bald eagle nests around the lake and on the river. When the lake freezes and ice forms, open water becomes prime fishing for bald eagles. In the winter of 2019-2020 Shenango staff and local birders observed several eagles daily. On one very exceptional day we observed over 90 juvenile and adult bald eagles! We will have PA Game Commission as a special presenter first thing in the morning followed by information about the lake and survey results from the day before. Visitors will be encouraged to grab a map and take a self-guided tour of the reservoir to seek out more sightings of this iconic raptor.
