In this two-session workshop, students will explore creative surface decoration techniques for ceramic artwork. Over two 2-hour classes, participants will work with both commercial and unconventional materials. The first session focuses on decorating wet clay through sgraffito using slips and underglazes, applying silkscreens directly onto clay, and properly using underglaze transfers while altering imagery through collage. In the second session, students will work with bisque-fired pieces to experiment with glazing and inlaying stains, learning thoughtful approaches to color, texture, and surface design.
