Mark May 15, 2026 on your calendar of “events you do not want to miss”! The Grove City High School Ceramics students will present exceptional examples of their talent in an exhibition at the Grove City Historical Society. These ceramics students have been utilizing art classes to hone their skills at sculpting life-like busts of significant figures in American history. Their inspiration comes from admired family members, veterans, rock n’ roll icons, and well- regarded role models. The project started with isolated facial features and developed into a technical presentation of clay creation. Week after week, ceramic portraits were fleshed out from simple armatures to defined likenesses through the collection of measurements and application of anatomical knowledge. While working on their busts, students also thought through artist statements, which will be displayed with their work to inform the audience of the purpose of their work. Connecting with the Grove City Area Historical Society, the students will display their works on Friday, May 15th in celebration of America’s Semiquincentennial from 5-7 p.m. at 111 College Avenue, Grove City. In the event of inclement weather, this outdoor exhibition will be rescheduled for 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, May 16th.
