The 21st Annual Pedal the Lakes Bicycle Tour Showcases Scenic Lakes and Rolling Hills of Beautiful Mercer County, PA

Mercer County, PA – Pedal the Lakes bicycle tour is Saturday, September 2, 2017, beginning in Greenville, Pa. It has multiple distances for all abilities and visits many of northwestern Pennsylvania’s and Ohio’s waterways and lakes. Within a 90-minute drive from Erie, Cleveland and Pittsburgh, the full-service tour in beautiful western PA and northeast Ohio features Amish countryside, several lakes, rolling rural roads, and a chance of sighting ducks walking on fish at the Linesville Spillway. Routes will be 12, 32, 65, and 100 miles. Support vehicles will patrol the course.

Riders are encouraged to bring tubes, patches, tools, pumps, etc. Helmets are required. The 21st anniversary celebration ride will provide exposure to the newly completed, crushed limestone Shenango River Trail from Main Street to Porter Road, Greenville. Be sure to stay for the first annual Greenville Community Fest in downtown Greenville on Saturday from 5-10 p.m.

Pedal The Lakes Bicycle Tour

Pre-register online for $25 at the MCTrails.org events website. Day-of-race registration is located at Riverside Park, 45 Alan Avenue, Greenville, Pa. from 7-10 a.m. The cost to register on the day of the race is $30.

Overnight “Festival” or “Event” rates are available at the following participating locations: Cianci’s Motel & Suites; Cobblestone Hotel & Suites, Greenville; and Seven Sisters Bed & Breakfast at McEwen Falls.

The tour will take place rain or shine.

Pedal the Lakes bicycle tour is hosted by the Mercer County Trails Association which uses proceeds from the tour to establish multi-use recreational trails in Mercer and neighboring counties in Western Pennsylvania.
